Milkweed Bound
I am working within the context of my domestic spaces using stitching and small game hunting at home to try and bring together the severed relationships between interspecies and the land.
In my practice I try to put these relationships together symbolically to represent the building relationship.
My work also enacts the complexity of navigating these abstractions and realities. I have been taught to separate, so now what I’m trying to do is bring it together, but when I do, it’s overwhelming and I don’t get it, can’t grasp it. I’m enacting a kind of complexity, messiness. We need to confront this messiness, because to keep it in order is not realistic or helpful for healing. The messiness is going to be better than pretending away the violence or forcing an abstraction of settler colonialism.
