This body of work that engages with the entangled realities of domestic labor and ecological care as a settler colonial person. I aim to acknowledge and question my inherited roles within systems of colonization, particularly as they manifest in the Midwest through land division, agricultural history, and family dynamics. Rather than working within a binary of guilt, this exhibition asks: what does it mean to live responsibly within a legacy of dispossession? What does it mean to care for land that was taken, and to raise children within that contradiction? What does it mean when the systems that have given you a place to be economically successful at the same time are physically harmful to your family?
